ESF Abacus International Kindergarten caters for children aged between three and five years of age and children attend school for three hours per day, five days per week. One class teacher and two educational assistants are responsible for each class of 24 children in our K1 and K2 classrooms. Abacus is authorised to deliver the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), providing an inquiry-based and highly interactive programme. Children learn through play experiences and are encouraged to discover, experiment and reflect on their learning. Our aim at Abacus is to encourage children to become confident and independent learners. We encourage each child to reach their full potential whilst respecting themselves, others and the world around them. Abacus offers Bilingual and English streams in both K1 and K2.
Bilingual
The Bilingual programme is jointly planned and delivered by an English and Chinese teacher working as a class team. Children receive instruction in both languages and all areas of the curriculum are delivered in both languages with the exception of English and Chinese languages. Children attending the bilingual class experience differentiated sessions in English language and Chinese language, to ensure their differing ability levels are catered for.
